“What does not destroy me makes me stronger.”

— Frederick Nietzsche

This series of small works was conceived and executed during the heart of the pandemic. Many of us lost loved ones, jobs, homes, opportunity, and economic stability. All of us lost time and a sense of security. The affirmations in these paintings remind the viewer of hidden strengths. They are written in Latin, a language nearly as old as civilization, to speak to the timelessness of the message. The objects in these works blend the simplicity of the domestic with the abundance of nature because the home environment sheltered us while nature’s beauty outside our windows sustained us. In surviving this time of crisis, we are all become more resilient. There is growth that comes after trauma and we are encouraged to use this energy to fuel our authentic fire. So, remember. Who you are. What you are capable of. What matters to you.
