White Vessels

“I learned to find equal meaning in the repeated rituals of domestic life. Setting the table. Lighting the candles.”

— Joan Didion

This series of works is a celebration of the stunning small beauties in our domestic lives. The inherited porcelain cup. The special vase given as a wedding gift. When we mindfully notice the lovely objects in our home environments, we allow ourselves moments of peace and appreciation. When we use and enjoy the family heirlooms passed to us, we honor generations past, remember that we usually have enough, and know that new is not necessarily better. Porcelain is often the material used to create these exquisite objects and makers have been working with this mix of ground stone and white china clay since the 7th century. We celebrate the skills of these artisans.
